Meet the Instructor- Barbara Gerber
Barbara Gerber has been teaching AP English Language and Composition since 2010, when she fell in love with teaching argument, rhetorical analysis, and close reading to high school students. She has been a College Board consultant since 2018 and an AP Reader since 2015.
Barbara joined the faculty of Santa Fe High School in 2007, where she also teaches sophomore English and journalism. She is in charge of the school’s online newspaper, The Demon Tattler, and has held several leadership roles at the school.
Barbara began teaching in 2004 after working as a freelance writer and editor for ten years, contributing to many local and national publications. Her first novel, Love and Death in a Perfect World, was published in 2015 by Terra Nova Books. She earned her National Board certification in 2010 (renewed in 2019).
Originally from New York, Barbara lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she enjoys playing the saxophone, being outdoors, and spending time with loved ones.
