FAQ

How do I track my academic progress?

Your MyMocsNet account includes a link to MyMocsDegree, where you can view your academic progress.

How do I register for classes?

You must meet with your academic advisor each semester to lift your registration hold and activate your registration portal on MyMocsNet.

English majors in their first or second semester of study meet with an advisor in the Center for Academic Support and Advisement.

Gerda Zinner of the College of Arts and Science's Hub Student Success Center advises all other English majors.

How do I request a registration override?

Dr. Jenn Stewart approves overrides for English 1010, 1011, and 1020. For first-year composition placement, please visit our Directed Self-Placement Program page.

Dr. Bryan Hampton reviews all other English Department override requests. If you're in your first, second, or third year of study and hope to join a class with full enrollment, first join the course waitlist then contact Dr. Hampton after the Registrar's deadline to pay fees (see the current academic calendar).

Seniors may contact Dr. Hampton before the payment deadline.

Who's my academic advisor?

If you're an English major in your first or second semester at UTC, you'll meet with an advisor in the Center for Academic Support and Advisement.

From your third semester forward, you'll meet with Gerda Zinner of the College of Arts and Science's Hub Student Success Center.

Who's my faculty mentor?

The English Department will assign you a faculty mentor to help you navigate your chosen concentration plus internship, research, publication, scholarship, and other department-level opportunities.
