To add a a section, there must first be a parent page for the section to belong to. To do this, under the "Content" page, find the blue "Add Content" button. There will be an option for an Admin or Academic homepage.
UTC Academic Internal Page
Use this homepage to create a department for any academic page, i.e. College of Engineering and Computer Science, College of Business. Make sure that the department does not belong to an overall academic department before creating a homepage. Defining parent items will not function properly if this selection is not made correctly.
UTC Admin Homepage
Use this homepage to create a department for any administrative page, i.e. Finance and Administration, Dean of Students. Make sure that the department does not belong to an overall administrative department before creating a homepage. Defining parent items will not function properly if this selection is not made correctly.
UTC Internal Page
Once a homepage has been made, pages that belong in that section can be made as internal pages. It is very important to select academic internal pages for academic departments and administrative internal pages for administrative departments. Academic internal pages can not be set to have an administrative page as a parent, and vice versa.
In order to have the side navigation to populate correctly, parent/child relationships must be manually set on a per-page basis. Correct parent/child settings will also set the URL and breadcrumb menu correctly.
In the "Edit" view of a page, there is an option to have a navigational item. In this section, the parent item of the page being edited can be set. The weight of the page in the navigation can be set here too. Higher weight values will appear lower on the navigation, and lower weight values will appear higher on the scale.
