Earn a Second Degree or a Business Minor While Preparing for a Master's in Business Administration Degree
UTC provides quality educational programs that properly prepare you with the knowledge, business skills and professional training for managerial, professional, or entrepreneurial opportunities. The following opportunities are available to all eligible students.
Post -Baccalaureate Students (second degree seekers)
Students who have already earned one undergraduate degree and would like to pursue a second undergraduate degree in Business Administration should apply through Undergraduate Admissions as a degree seeking, Post-Baccalaureate Student.
To be awarded a second degree, students must meet the following requirements:
- Students are required to meet all specific requirements for the second degree.
- Students with a bachelor's degree from regionally accredited college or universities are not required to fulfill any additional general education requirements unless specified under their second major.
- In order to earn the second degree, students must complete a minimum of at least 25% of the minimum hours required for the degree at UTC. For 120 hours, this would be a minimum of 30 new hours at UTC. These hours are beyond their original degree requirements.
- Of the minimum 25%, at least 12 hours must be earned within their major department at UTC. These hours are beyond their original degree requirements.
- A grade point average of at least 2.00 is required in these courses.
A Business Administration Minor or Pursuing a Master's in Business Administration After Graduation
Are you interested in business, but would like to major in another field? A business minor is a great option!
Or, would you like to get a head start on qualifying to earn a Masters of Business Administration degree (MBA)? Do you think you have to earn an undergraduate degree in business first or that it will take an additional 5 years? Many students think so but with careful planning any non-business major at UTC can earn:
- A Bachelor's degree in any non-business field
- A minor in Business Administration
- If planning to go on and earn a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), meet the UTC MBA program prerequisites
Working within their own non-business undergraduate degree requirements, students will strategically utilize their general education requirements, degree requirements, and electives to complete the Business Administration minor courses that will prepare them for an MBA. Successful completion of the Business Administration minor with select business courses will allow students to fulfill most of the MBA background prerequisites.
Students are encouraged to meet with their current major advisor and with a Rollins College of Business advisor to plan out their goals as early as possible.
If you are already majoring in business:
Successful completion of your undergraduate degree allows most students majoring in Business Administration to meet all MBA background prerequisite requirements. Students majoring in Business Administration are not required to complete a minor and are not eligible for a business minor. Check out the chart below to ensure you have taken or are taking the background prerequisite courses needed for the Master in Business Administration.
If your non-business major requires a minor:
Non-business majors who are required to earn a minor as part of their degree requirements may choose to complete the Business Administration minor in preparation of the MBA program.
