Parent FAQs

Final grades, exams or academic progress are not directory information and are protected under FERPA.

Students who want to grant a parent or guardian access to view or discuss their student information may create a MyMocsPASS account for them. Instructions and FAQ are published on our website.

To view or pay your child's bill, the student must set up an outside party as an authorized user.

FERPA regulations apply to minors enrolled in a post-secondary institution as they would for an individual age 18 or older.

Parents of a child less than 18 years of age do not have access to these educational records unless the student has granted them access to view or discuss their student information through MyMocsPASS.

• If the information requested during an emergency is necessary to protect the health and safety of the student, the university will release non-directory information.
• Student Outreach & Support should also be contacted in the case of a crisis or emergency.

Without a MyMocsPASS account, you can request directory information.

The student, however, has the right to withhold any directory information from any third party.

The enrollment status of a student, i.e. part-time, full-time, etc., is considered directory information and may be obtained by third parties so long as the student has not withheld directory information from third parties. Enrollment verifications may be obtained through the National Student Clearinghouse.
